Nha Trang is Vietnam's most popular seaside destination for international tourists. It is well known for its pristine beaches, and is the scuba diving center of Vietnam.

Nha Trang has a population of around 400,000. It is located some 440 km (275 mi) south of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) and is surrounded by mountains on the North, West and Southern side. On the East, Nha Trang borders the South China Sea. The city is flanked by nearly 10 kilometers (6 mi) of prime beach where the water is warm all year round. Nha Trang Bay is considered to be among the world's most beautiful bays, with several islands scattered in the bay, the largest being Hon Tre Island (Bamboo Island), where you can get to by a motorized chair lift system, reportedly the longest in the world. Other notable islands in the bay are: Hon Yen, Hon Rua and the Spratly islands.
Nha Trang is a stopover for annual yacht races starting in Hong Kong. In recent years, the city has welcomed many five-star sea cruises. In addition to sail boat racing, Nha Trang provides a rich variety of tourist activities for visitors; from island-hopping boat trips, scuba diving and all sort of watersports activities, to mudbaths at Thap Ba natural hotsprings and historic sites. The city itself has retained its small town atmosphere, the most beautiful street is probably Tran Phu Street along the seaside, sometimes referred to as the Pacific Coast Highway of Vietnam. In Nha Trang there are many local restaurants, and the local cuisine is famous for its fresh seafoods and barbecued pork rolled in rice paper. The area's Bird's Nest Soup is considered to be one of the best in Vietnam. Bird's nest are collected in the wild and on bird farms on the islands off the coast.
There are several five-star luxury resorts in Nha Trang, of which some are located on the islands in the bay. Also there are many family orientated hotels and all other kinds of accommodation available. Nha Trang is a year round destination with an average temperature of around 25C and the lowest humidity in Vietnam.
Cam Rahn Airport (CXR), built on the grounds of an old American airbase in 2004, is located 30 km (19 mi) from the city and serves only domestic destinations. You can get to the airport to downtown by taxi or as a cheaper option by the airport bus. Many of the hotels also provide airport shuttles.
